Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Why are LandRollers better than in-lines?

LandRoller skates’ patented “out-of-line” wheel configuration provides superior stability by angling the wheel/ground contact points so that they straddle the centerline of the boot.  That stability makes it is easier for beginners to learn how to skate on LandRollers.  At the same time, experienced skaters can do more on more surfaces.  With only two large wheels, one can brake easier and generate more stopping force than with four or five-wheeled in-lines.  It is also easier to control turns and one experiences a far smoother ride with better glide.

In addition, LandRollers are the only skates that offer true off-road capability (with our interchangeable air-filled tire option) combined with skate-like maneuverability.  Wheel and bearing are replaced together, and replacement is far simpler than with in-lines.  Wheel life is also longer with LandRollers.

Are LandRollers really “out-of-line” skates?

Yes.  LandRollers patented wheel configuration is truly out-of-line.  The smaller front wheel contacts the ground outside the imaginary centerline of the boot.  The larger rear wheel contacts the ground closer to the centerline.  This unique wheel placement with its diagonal roll axis is the secret to LandRoller’s superior stability.

Is there any technique change required to skate on LandRollers?

Just like switching from old-fashioned straight skis to parabolics required slight style adjustments, there are minor technique differences between LandRollers and in-lines. And one is likewise delighted after experiencing the advantages.  Generally, beginning skaters will find it easier to learn on LandRollers due to their superior stability, lack of chatter, and ability to roll easily over bumps and cracks.  Advanced skaters may need 20 to 30 minutes to modify their turning and crossing-over techniques.
